7 Simple Ways to Clear Your Mind

There is every probability that distraction comes up while you are trying to stay focused (especially from the mind). These thoughts can be positive or negative but staying focused on the important things at the right time improves productivity.

Give yourself a break or practice these seven steps to declutter your mind and stay concentrated.

1. Practice Mindfulness

This is the act of regaining consciousness or focusing on your present activity.

· Opening your mind to what you’re working on at the moment

· Maintain concentration and observe why the thoughts keep coming

· Say “ I do not want to think about this 10x”

Practicing mindfulness helps improve a clear mind and enhances productivity. Try to direct your attention to your actions at the moment; this can be a hard thing to do especially if the thoughts are about hurtful situations.

Constant practice will yield desired consciousness while trying to stay focused and the power to remain focused is always YOU!!!

2. Sleep

Rest can never be overemphasized as having a clear mind at any time of the day. Good sleep strengthens you physically and relieves you mentally.

Whatever thoughts you might have won’t be cleared wholly but after rest, won’t be as disturbing as before.

Get enough sleep whenever you feel overwhelmed as lack of sleep affects your ability to stay focused and productive.

3. Live in the Moment

Have you ever been in a discussion with a friend and your mind just wanders away? Yes, it happens to me a lot and it makes the friend feel like you are not interested in the chat or careless about them.

Do not make anyone feel less loved around you even if you feel so bad within, give a listening ear at that moment. Stay healthy by eating a good meal that boosts one physically and mentally.

If you feel lonely or depressed, calling a loved one and explaining your worries is okay. Discussing your fears and problems with loved and trusted people can help them give solutions in any way they understand.

You can live the moment by cleaning your environment, cooking, attending events, reading your favorite book, and the like. Get your mind engaged to clear awful thoughts and stay positive.

4. Stay Off

Take a trip out of that comfort zone!!! Research suggests that the benefits of a good walk are improved creativity.

Go for a walk, watch nature, meet new people, and look out for scenes happening in the environment, exercise, meditate.

If you love music, put on that song at its loudest volume and dance to its rhythm.

This just means staying off that workspace for a while or getting your mind busy and away from those thoughts and feeling good!!!!

5. Write

Research says that writing down increases working memory capacity. This can either be a diary or a blog.

Writing down your feelings can help you free up your mind and if you go back to read them, you will be able to figure out the cause of those thoughts and their solution.

Tips on what to write
· How you feel at the moment

· What triggered such a feeling

· Can the feeling be dissolved

· Write and go with the flow ( express yourself freely)

After some time, you can read back all you have written and observe what action to take next, either to resolve or dissolve the thoughts.

6. Drink Water

Have you ever been in a position where you hadn’t drunk water in a long time and you finally did, how was the feeling? You felt refreshed right? Yes, that is part of clearing off your mind because you feel refreshed.

· Regulates body temperature: overthinking can cause you to have a high body temperature.

· Detoxification: Water detoxifies the body system and removes unwanted toxins. I believe Negative Thoughts are unwanted.

· Helps in Brain function: Poor hydration leads to problems in thinking and that causes low concentration span.

· Aid in Bone formation: Lack of drinking enough water leads to joint pains, endeavor to stay hydrated as always.

· Reduces Eating Disorder: Drinking water in the morning or before eating makes you feel full so you won’t eat much which makes you become overweight.

7. Let Go

Releasing yourself from negative and hurtful thoughts is the most effective way to have a clear mind.

The past can never be changed, forget about it, move on, plan the future, and focus on the now.

· Forgive yourself

· Let go of toxic friendships and relationships

· Practice self-love

· Practice gratitude

· Spend time alone to reflect and strategize

· Unfollow people on social media who do not inspire you
